Prototypes/Crowdfunding Projects to keep an eye on:

Reverie (Dux Somnium) – this project is live on Kickstarter until on October 1st! After my very positive experience with Endearment, I was of course on the look out for new projects from Dux Somnium. Now they plan to take us on a beautiful experience through Victorian art school that is worth checking out.

Spirit Train: The Final Journey (Sweater Bear Games) – this project is live on Kickstarter until September 14th! This game caught my eye with its beautiful art, and as I dug more into it, it had a lot of mechanics that I tend to like. The campaign also has some cool add-ons that if the game piques your interest you won’t want to miss.

Moon Garden (Hungry Flower) – this project is live on Kickstarter until September 13th! This looks like it is a quick and fast game of placing magical flowers in your 3×3 garden to complete formulas and score points. This looks like it would be a fun quick game to start a longer game night off with.

Games we were playing this month:

Modern Art (CMON Games) – This ended up being an exciting auction and economy game. My friend had a box of mini poker chips that we used that made handling the money very satisfying. Admittedly after we finished, we realized that we messed up one of the rules, and I’m looking forward to another chance to play it as intended.

Sol: The Last Days of a Star (Elephant Laboratories) – This is one of my favorite games, and I unfortunately don’t play it as often as I would like. As your mothership orbits around the dying sun, it brings a fun timing element into the play as everyone is hitting a different part of the developing board at different times.

Everdell Farshore (Tabletop Tycoon/Starling Games) – I’ve kept Everdell (and its many variants) out of the Antibyss Remark for a while (even though we play at least one monthly), but Farshore was due for a repeat mention given how much it gets played. While it has a lot of similarities to the original game they really did a good at making the strategy and paths to victory feel different.
